Dry Kilns Humidifying Systems

“The equilibrium moisture content in the wood is maintained by controlling precise relative humidity in the air surrounding it.”

MEC Dry Kilns Humidifying

The “MISTER”™ system is ideal for use in lumber dry kilns and pre-kiln areas.  It can be used with lumber of any species and thickness, and can be installed in both conventional and dehumidification dry kilns.  It has been shown that the “MISTER”™ system attains equalizing and conditioning atmospheres in the kiln - all within the same time, or less, than conventional steam sprays.  The use of cool water misting  systems eliminates the problem of dry bulb override during equalizing and conditioning.  Conditioning of lumber with cool water using a high pressure misting system provides the following benefits:

  • Eliminates the need to produce steam for conditioning
  • Minimizes kiln overheating problems
  • Allows excess steam to be used for extra drying capacity
  • Allows for uniform moisture dispersal within the kiln chamber without re-wetting the lumber
  • Turns a quicker replacement of loads, since the misting system can be used to cool down the kiln after the charge is removed

MEC’s technologies provide the woodworking industry with an efficient system for controlled humidification in dry kilns, resulting in:

  • Excellent payback
  • Reduced energy costs
  • Reduced cycle times
  • Improved lumber grade
  • Consistent EMC
  • Less water used per time period
  • Conservation of boiler treatment chemicals
  • Reduced loss of heat between loads
  • Temperature control of dry bulbs
