Wine Barrel Storage & Cellars Humidifying Systems“Wine stored in barrels can lose up to 15% volume over a two year period due to fluctuations in humidity levels.”
Changes in the humidity levels in barrel rooms and wine cellars can be an unnecessary loss of investment. To counteract the this, MEC manufactures a barrel storage misting system to accurately maintain humidity at optimum levels. Nozzle lines are mounted in the room to give equal distribution of humidity. MEC can increase humidity in the barrel rooms by transforming ordinary water into a vapor. This is called flash evaporation. The key to this transformation is the 1000 psi used to create the required misting. The misting system will also help reduce the expense associated with topping off. The correct humidity level in wine cellars is as important as it is in barrel storage rooms. Proper humidity levels in the cellar helps the cork stay airproof since a dry cork may allow air to seep into the bottle, changing the flavor of the wine. A 75% humidity level is ideal for a cellar.
