| | Wood Storage and Furniture Humidifying Systems“If wood is too wet, it will swell, if too dry, it will warp.”
Wood, by nature, is affected by the moisture content of the atmosphere surrounding it. The negative effects of a dry atmosphere on wood include: - Loosening of corner joints on frames
- Warping on the internal woodwork and parts of furniture
- Displacement of middle layers and edging, making them uneven
- Surface cracks developing
Maintaining correct humidity levels in plant or storage areas can prevent these problems after the wood has been processed. Moisture in the atmosphere created by a humidifying system will also suppress dust and maintain a healthy environment in the mill or factory during the manufacturing process. Where dried veneers are stored or worked on, constant humidification should be received to counteract any fluctuations in moisture levels, avoiding damage. The misting system can also be utilized for cooling work areas.
